It may be Halloween, but nothing ‘scary’ about this email. The opposite in fact – along with your round-up of subjects being talked about in the news, I have good news – Alchemy is launching something new, again !
Managed Device Support – coming soon.
Over the last couple of months we have been evaluating several suppliers’ offerings, to fill a gap in what we want to be able to do for our customers over the next 25 years. As of yesterday we have finalised who we are going with and are in the process of signing on the dotted line with a substantial IT Support platform provider.
As a headline, this will add PROACTIVE MANAGEMENT OF END USER DEVICES to our in-house capabilities.
This will add an entire new layer of support for businesses, essentially giving us the ability to know when your users’ machines are struggling, before their daily usage becomes affected – reducing downtime, increasing productivity – and thus It will pay for itself every single month.
In essence the extra services we are intending to deliver via the acquisition of this solution boil down to the following:
- Proactive device monitoring, with warnings auto-creating helpdesk tickets
- Individual component usage monitoring
- Proactive patch management – weekly / monthly
- Proactive background maintenance (without you even noticing)
- Monthly device performance reporting
- Rapid device remote connection facilities
Also, because we will now be able to see exactly what machines the end devices are, we can also wrap-in the following extra benefits:
- Hardware improvement recommendations
- Monitoring of backup status, corrective actions & testing
- Reporting of software violations or use of end-of-life or restricted programs
- Hardware Asset inventory & software audits
- Reports on machine usage
- Device lifecycle management
There’s going to be a set-up period this end while we configure and test, but once complete expect a costed option in your inbox for you to add this to your current support package.
This is a significant addition to our portfolio, making Alchemy a fully end-to-end one-stop-shop IT Support & Services company. We are very pleased to be able to offer this to you !
LastPass Password Management
Thanks if you attending the recent webinar, and if you did I hope you got lots out of it. If you have any follow-up Qs just direct them my way. If you were unable to attend then I’ll be uploading the video recording of the presentation to our website over the next week or so.
Google Chrome
Just a reminder to update the Chrome browser regularly to implement new security and feature updates, if you’re using it as your default. It doesn’t do it itself unfortunately.
We’re now on Version 118.
20 Years of Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday
As this ties in with facilities in our new support service, I’ll take the opportunity to mention that it’s been 20-years since Microsoft switched from shipping software updates as soon as they were ready, to a more co-ordinated once-a-month release, dubbed ‘Patch Tuesday’. Microsoft actually found that patch consumption went up considerably after they reduced the quantity of release dates. The move was obviously welcomed by IT administrators because it gave them predictability, allowing resource to be allocated more wisely.
Here if you need me as always – phone, email, web chat or in your office – up to you.
